Crowns

The treatment with crowns as well as bridge requires 2 appointments (in certain cases 3). On the first appointment we discuss the possibilities and after an examination and x-ray, local anaesthetic is administered. The teeth are then filed down, the necessary impressions and bite registration and temporary crowns are made chairside to minimize the discomfort you might experience until the final crowns are made.

On the second appointment the temporaries are removed and the permanent crowns or bridges are fitted and cemented. In some cases when the gum or the teeth don’t allow, the crowns are cemented with a temporary cement and once the tissue settles down, they are cemented permanently.

The timescale for this treatment is as follows: to manufacture the crowns and bridges 5 working days (Monday through Friday) are necessary for the clinic and the lab. You have the option of spending the entire time in Hungary or you can come for 2 separate appointments a week/ 5 days apart.

Our clinic offers the following types of crowns: (The prices don’t include the temporary crowns, these cost 10 GBP each.)

• Metal-fused-to porcelain crown, which is made out of a non-allergizing metal alloy. If a bridge is necessary, the bridge units have the same price as the crowns.



• gold-fused-to-porcelain crowns are made of a gold alloy. This type of crown is recommended in cases when there’s a metal allergy to most of the other metals, or when other restorations in the mouth are already gold.



• porcelain jacket crown, which is made of pressed porcelain. This type of crown is recommended only for single crowns and not bridges, and only in certain cases, which you will be advised at our clinic. It doesn’t contain any metal, so it provides a higher esthetic effect due to the transparency of the porcelain.



• circonium-based full porcelain crown is made of porcelain on a circonia base. This type of crown is suitable for single crowns as well as to bridge gaps up to 3 tooth length. It combines the high esthetic qualities of any full-porcelain crown with the durability of a metal-ceramic crown. At our clinic we use CERCON and ZENO brands.



• PROCERA crown is another type of circonia base porcelain crown. It is manufactured in Sweden in a special lab of Nobel Biocare. Please note that as opposed to the other crowns, this type of crown requires 8 working days to be manufactured, because they are exclusively made in a dental lab in Sweden.
