Implants

At our clinic we use 3i implants. It is an American premium quality implant system.

The procedure for this type of operation is as follows:

After a thorough oral examination and x-ray, we take the necessary measurements and we plan the number and position of the implants.

If the remaining teeth have to be extracted first, only a temporary solution can be made, because after the extractions it takes about 3-4 months until the gum and the bone take their final shape and the wounds heal. After this, the implants can be placed.
The placement of the implants (depending on the number and position) is usually a 1 or 1,5 hour long operation which is performed under local anaesthesia. We usually use dissolvable stitches, eliminating the need for a longer stay and a visit to your local dentist on your return home. This brings down the duration of your stay to 3-4 days Should you wear dentures it would be advisable to have them realigned after the operation. However this can only be done approximately 8-9 days after the operation. Please note that in order to protect the operated gums, you MUST NOT wear any dentures for a week.

It takes about 3-4 months in the upper jaw, and 4-5 months in the lower jaw for the implants to stabilize in the bone, after this time the healing abutments can be inserted. This requires a one-day visit, and it is also carried out under local anaesthetic.
2-3 weeks after the placement of the healing abutments, the implants can be built up. There are several variations and combinations for a final restoration of the implants. In case of a crown or a bridge, a week’s visit is required to our clinic. In cases where a denture is necessary, we can only provide an exact personalised timescale and treatment plan after a consultation.
